Wigan fights back for 2-2 draw at Stoke

Updated: December 31, 2011, 12:13

STOKE, England(AP) Ben Watson came off the bench and scored a penalty with his first touch to earn 10-man Wigan a 2-2 draw at Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday.

Victor Moses converted Hugo Rodallega's cross on the stroke of half time to give Wigan the lead, but the game seemed to turn in the hosts' favor in the 77th minute when Gary Caldwell was sent off for handball.

Jon Walters scored the resulting penalty and Cameron Jerome seemed to have earned his side victory with a goal in the 84th, but Ryan Shotton was penalized for pulling Rodallega's shirt and Watson converted the spot-kick to salvage a point.

Wigan remained in the relegation zone in 18th, two points from safety, while Stoke stayed eighth.
