Villa pays price for errors in defeat by Swansea

Updated: January 02, 2012, 12:04

BIRMINGHAM, England(AP) Aston Villa paid for the price for mistakes in each half as the Midlands club went down 2-0 at home to Swansea in the Premier League on Monday.

Nathan Dyer scored after just four minutes at Villa Park and fellow midfielder Wayne Routledge added his first goal for Swansea within two minutes of the restart.

Swansea took a deserved lead after a mix-up with Stephen Warnock, who gave the ball straight to Dyer. The midfielder took the ball on before firing past keeper Brad Guzan.

It was a similar story when Guzan sent his goal kick to a white shirt and the ball came to former Villa man Routledge. He burst forward, laid on a pass for Danny Graham and then reacted swiftly when the striker hit the post, tucking away the rebound.
