BLACKBURN, England(AP) Under-fire Blackburn manager Steve Kean has done little to ease his situation at the Premier League's bottom club by acknowledging he "forfeited'' a chance to reach the last four of the League Cup by playing a weakened team in a quarterfinal defeat.

Blackburn was beaten 2-0 by second-tier team Cardiff on Tuesday, dashing probably its best hopes of winning any silverware this season.

Kean rested many of his best players for the game and says "we are in a position where we have forfeited going through in this competition and having the chance to reach a cup final.''

Kean has been backed by Blackburn's Indian owners this season but a section of fans has called for him to be sacked, with the team bottom of the league by two points.
