LIVERPOOL, England(AP) Blackburn dropped into the Premier League's relegation zone on Saturday despite snatching a 1-1 draw at Everton thanks to David Goodwillie's fortunate second-half equalizer.
An attempted goalline clearance by Australia midfielder Tim Cahill, who put Everton in front, hit Goodwillie flush in the chest and rebounded into the back of Everton's net in the 72nd minute.
Cahill had tucked the ball home from close range in the 24th for his first Everton goal in 13 months, although there was a suspicion of handball from Marouane Fellaini in the buildup.
Everton manager David Moyes acknowledged his team was lucky to emerge with a point.
"Blackburn had the better of the first half and we were certainly fortunate to go in 1-0 up,'' Moyes said.
"But I hoped that once we got it, even though it wasn't one of our better days we could have hung on to it.''
Bolton's 3-1 win over Liverpool later Saturday lifted the team above Blackburn, which is back in the relegation zone in which it has resided for most of the season.
"If we look back on the game we'll be disappointed because we felt that Everton scored against the run of play,'' Blackburn manager Steve Kean said.
Once Everton's most reliable source of goals, Cahill hadn't scored since netting in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in December 2010.
"I think he's looked more likely to score in recent weeks. He's been playing better and coming into a little bit of form,'' Moyes said.
