Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is the 17th club in Major League Soccer and replaced the USL Division Two team of the same name. The Whitecaps are based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They play their home matches in British Columbia Place Stadium in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Whitecaps began their MLS competition on March 19, 2011 against fellow Canadian rival Toronto FC, in which they won 4-2. Unfortunately, they struggled after that, failing to find a victory in their next eleven contests. The largest groups of Whitecaps FC fans are known as the "Southsiders". The club, although new to the MLS, has a strong fan base. The club has a rivalry with Toronto FC, seeing as they are the only two Canadian teams in Major League Soccer.

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC primary colors are navy blue and light blue. The name "whitecaps" refers to both the snow tipped Canadian Rocky Mountains as well as the rough white-capped waves in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean.
