Shalrie Joseph was born May 24, 1978 in the Caribbean country of Grenada. His family relocated to Brooklyn, NY when he was a teenager. It was there in New York City where Joseph played soccer at St. Johns University. He signed with the MLS in 2002 when he was drafted 14th overall to the New England Revolution. After a few seasons, Joseph exploded and proved himself to be one of the league most talented defensive midfielders, and in 2005 was named to the MLS Best XI. From that season on, there was no doubt that Joseph was a dominant player Major League soccer, after earning his spot back on the MLS Best XI again in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
