Seattle Sounders FC
Seattle Sounders FC was founded in 2007 as an MLS expansion team, making it the 15th team in Major League Soccer. The fans in an online poll chose the name "Sounders". The Sounders play their home matches in CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington.
From the start of its inaugural season, the Sounders saw success. After defeating New York Red Bull 3-0 in its first home match ever, they club sold out every game for the next two seasons as well as qualifying for the MLS Cup both seasons. They became the first MLS expansion club to win the US Open Cup in 2009, and the first MLS club since 1983 to repeat as US Open Cup back to back winners in 2010- in front of a crowd of 31,311. The Sounders also went on to compete in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2010. Notable Sounders players include Zach Scott, David Estrada, and Kasey Keller.
The club garners green and blue colors, and the Seattle Sounders FC emblem features the Space Needle- Seattle's most recognizable landmark.
