FC Dallas is one of Major League Soccer's charter clubs, having been a part of the league since the beginning. The club was formally known as the Dallas Burn before officially changing its name it Dallas FC in 2005. The club plays its home games in Pizza Hut Park based in Frisco, Texas which is a suburb of Dallas, Texas.
The Dallas Burn era started off strong with a successful first few seasons, placing third in the Western Conference and advancing to the semifinals of the MLS Cup, and later winning the US Open Cup. The club saw varying degrees of success throughout the decade, until it placed 1st in the Western Conference in 2006, later getting knocked out of the MLS Cup in the quarterfinals. Notable former players to compete in a Dallas Burn or FC Dallas jersey include Shaka Hislop, Carlos Ruiz, Eddie Johnson, and Jason Kries.
FC Dallas competes in a primarily red, blue, and silver kit adorned with stripes with its oldest rivalry being the Chicago Fire.
