Dwayne De Rosario
Dwayne De Rosario, as most would agree, is considered to be one the league most valuable players. Born on May 15, 1978 in Scarborough, Ontario, this Canadian footballer began his professional career in 1997 when signing with the Toronto Lynx of the Canadian A-League.
He soon thereafter decided to move to the German club FSV Zwickau. After only two seasons with the German club, De Rosario decided it was time to return to North America, signing with the Richmond Kickers. After a few seasons, he exploded in 2000 with 15 goals, leading the team to a 20-6-1 record. He then joined the San Jose Earthquakes where he began his very successful MLS career, earning the 2004 and 2005 Goal of the Year, as well as named to the MLS Best XI in 2005.
He moved with the team to their relocation to Houston, and eventually back to Toronto, signing with Toronto FC. He was named captain of the club and has been the most valuable player since. He is also an important player for the Canadian National Team, winning Canadian Player of the Year three consecutive times.
