If you could personify the sport of soccer into one player, it would be David Beckham. This international superstar is probably the most well known player in the game today. Born in London, England on May 2, 1975, Beckham has played for some of the best clubs in the world. He began his professional career at Manchester United at only 17 years of age.
During his play at Manchester United, the club one the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions league in 1999. He then moved to the highly decorated Spanish club Real Madrid, playing four seasons and eventually winning the La Liga title in his final season with club in 2007.
Beckham has also been a key member of England's national team over the past decade, earning 115 caps and tallying 17 goals, many while wearing the captain's armband. Later in 2007, Beckham was traded to the Los Angeles Galaxy which immediately created a wave of excitement around the country.
