The Colorado Rapids are one of Major League Soccer's charter clubs, having been a part of the league since the beginning. The Rapid play their home games in Dick's Sporting Goods Park which is located in Commerce City, Colorado right outside of Denver.
The Rapids had a rather rocky start. In the inaugural season, they finished last in the Western Conference and dead last in the league, despite having experienced players and a veteran coach. The Rapid continued to perform below expectation for years after the inaugural season, yet all hope was not lost for the Rapid. After finishing only 5th in the West in 2010, they went on to win the MLS Cup final after a spectacular playoff run. Notable former players include Clint Mathis, Marcelo Balboa, and Carlos Valderrama.
The Colorado Rapids colors have been changed many times in their history, but are now are burgundy and sky blue.
