Chivas USA

Chivas USA became the league eleventh team upon their expansion into the league in 2004 after the demise of the Miami Fusion and the Tampa Bay Mutiny. Founded in 2004, the club was meant to be a smaller expansion, or “little brother” of the Guadalajara-based club CD Chivas, one of Mexico’s most popular clubs. The MLS club Chivas USA plays its home games in Carson, California’s Home Depot Center, sharing it with cross town rivals the LA Galaxy.

After a rough start to league in 2005, the club saw a success after being under guidance of former MLS Coach of the Year Bob Bradley. They earned a spot in the Western Conference playoffs, and Bradley earned MLS Coach of the year, becoming the first back to back winner in the league’s history. The club has continued success in consistently qualifying for playoffs, with one first place finish in the Western Conference in 2007. The success has been contributed to the coaching and the role of the notable players including Sacha Kljestan, Jonathan Bornstien, Ante Rasov, and Brad Guzan.

The club colors include red, white, and blue usually worn in a the recognizable red and white striped kit with solid blue shorts.
